New Mickey Hart Album, Mysterium Tremendium – due April 10 – and more tour dates!

MESSAGE FROM MICKEY

Can’t wait to unleash Mysterium Tremendum to you all in just over a month. This band is on fire and the cd shines like a silver dollar. We are ready to get on the bus to create something special and unique with these new songs. We’ll be pulling out some of my favorite Dead tunes on this tour and take them for a ride as well. Music connects us with the spirit in us and we need this powerful medicine now more than ever.

As my old friend Albert Einstein would say…” Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there will ever be to know and understand.”

In rhythm,

– Mickey

Bob Weir and Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart to play at All Good Music Festival 2012

The All Good Music Festival & Campout Anxiously awaiting news about Summer tours and Festivals…

…and here is a big surprise! While Furthur was a headliner at the All Good Music Festival for the last two years, they will not be there in 2012.   Bob Weir will be performing with Bruce Hornsby and Branford Marsalis (does this imply a tour for Bruce and Bob?)  and Phil Lesh and Friends will also be at this years festival (and, does this imply a tour for Phil and Friends?).  Phil’s Friends line-up has not been announced, but expect something stellar!

And… the Mickey Hart band will also be at All Good Music Festival 2012.

Plus, The Allman Brothers Band, Railroad Earth, and many more.   Not all artists are even announced yet, and the festival lineup is incredible.  Looks like it really is ALL GOOD!
The Festival will be held July 19-22 at Legend Valley Concert Venue & Campground – the location formerly known as Buckeye Lake Music Center.

Mickey Hart New album Mysterium Tremendum and tour Above The Clouds

Mickey Hart’s long anticipated new album Mysterium Tremendum is due out on April 10, 2012.

It will contain new music from the Mickey Hart Band, including new songs from the ever prolific Robert Hunter.  Many of the expected tracks have been performed in recent months as Mickey has been out on the road with this project, including “Let There Be Light”, “Slo Jo Rain” and  “Supersonic”.

Mickey Hart Band “Let There Be Light” features lyrics by Robert Hunter

Mickey Hart Band - Yoshi's 11.28.2011Mickey Hart and his new band has been in the studio with producer Ben Yonas, who also plays in the Mickey Hart Band.  Ben is often tucked away further back of the stage, adding his sonifications on keyboards and a Mac.

He is literally upstaged, likely by design,  by frontman singer Tim Hockenberry, who also plays keyboards as well as multiple other instruments.  Also in front is Crystal Monee Hall, who sings and plays guitar, Gawain Mathews on lead guitar, Ian “INKX” Herman on drums, longtime Mickey Hart player Sikiru Adepoju on talking drum and djembe, and in the bass position Dave Schools from Widespread Panic.   Of course Mickey Hart is playing drums, the beam, and RAMU – his computer programmed Random Access Digital Musical Universe gizmo.

Mickey Hart - San Francisco Aug 2011 - Photo by DHL-Monte Gullo for DeadheadlandThis band, creating the sound and finding the right musicians to bring it to life, is something Mickey has been developing behind the scenes for a little while.  Deadheadland spoke to  Mickey about it last summer in our interview with him. He first took it out in embryonic form at the Wave Gravy 75th Birthday celebration in 2011, and then officially debuted over the summer.
