Video: Dead and Company wsg Grahame Lesh – Box of Rain – Big Brown

Dead and Company wsg Grahame Lesh – Box of Rain

Grahame Lesh joined Dead and Company, playing one of Phil Lesh’s famous instruments, the bass known as Big Brown, in a heartfelt rendition of his late father’s signature song, Box of Rain.

Not many dry eyes. We miss Phil so much, and this was such a sweet tribute.

Grahame Lesh has been leading the Heart of Town shows across town at Pier 48, with one more show tonight, Saturday August 2, starting at 10, after the Dead and Company show today. Heart of Town is also part of the Grateful Dead GD60 celebration taking place all over San Francisco, and the world.

Setlist & Video Dead & Company’s Bob Weir & Mickey Hart play Lazy River Road on Jerry Garcia’s Birthday at Sphere

Meanwhile, about last night in Las Vegas….

“Bobby & Mickey were on stage alone for Lazy River Road – very different!!” (Bob Scalcione)

Lazy River Road Bob Weir & Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, performing this song – just the two of them on stage, as part of Dead & Company: Dead Forever, Sphere, Las Vegas Thursday 8.1.2024 – Jerry Garcia’s 82nd birthday. As the two OG GD in D&C, this was a fitting tribute to their beloved band mate Jerry Garcia, and reports from those in attendance were that it was a very moving take on the song, and not a dry eye in the house.

For setlist statistical purposes, this was the first performance of the song as Dead & Company, though it was just the two of them on stage, Bob Weir on vocals and guitar, and Mickey Hart on percussion.

Here is the rest of the setlist, from the hands-down king of setlists, good ol’ grateful Bob Scalcione!
