Phil Lesh played a full set with moe. called “phil.moe.”
Full Show (audio)
Originally moe. bassist Rob Derhak was going to play as well, but recently began cancer treatment, so he took the show off, since Phil was playing bass. Rob watched the stream at home, while remote controlling a tiny robot (rob.bot) on stage with his bandmates.
moe. will be on hiatus after this phil.moe performance, while Rob is undergoing treatment. They expect Rob to be better and ready to play soon.
Guitarist Al Schnier emotionally acknowledged that Phil really stepped up; Al said he’s been playing Phil’s music since he was a teen, but it meant a lot that Phil learned their songs!
The band was also joined by surprise guests Nicki Bluhm on vocals and Grahame Lesh on guitar for “The Music Never Stopped”, and by members of The Revivalists on “Opheila”.
Later in the set Bob Weir, (the “Busiest artist at Lockn'” ~ having played with Terrapin Family Band, JRAD, an acoustic set with Phil, and a sit in with DJ Logic in the last 48 hours), joined in for a few songs, wearing a “Rob” shirt.
