A lively discussion from KQED-FM’s “Forum” – a recording from the Aug 10, 1995 broadcast, about reactions to the death of Jerry Garcia the day before, with host Scott Shafer and panelists David Gans and Steve Silberman.
Grahame Lesh joined Dead and Company, playing one of Phil Lesh’s famous instruments, the bass known as Big Brown, in a heartfelt rendition of his late father’s signature song, Box of Rain.
Not many dry eyes. We miss Phil so much, and this was such a sweet tribute.
Grahame Lesh has been leading the Heart of Town shows across town at Pier 48, with one more show tonight, Saturday August 2, starting at 10, after the Dead and Company show today. Heart of Town is also part of the Grateful Dead GD60 celebration taking place all over San Francisco, and the world.
