I danced through all three sets and didn’t stop!
There was a large birthday card for everyone to sign along with apples to eat.
Balloons were dropped towards the end of the first set; orange and black for the Giants’ win! The stage was completely full of them and needed to be cleaned up!
Jackie’s promoter presented him with a special type of metal microphone which looks exactly like the one he uses. He was very humble and appreciative for our singing Happy Birthday and all of the other festivities.
When were handed posters on the way out. I am looking forward to celebrating Jackie’s 31st birthday next year! (~);}
Last night Jackie Greene opened for Gov’t Mule at the Royal Oak Theatre. The venue was amazing with a sort of Art Nouveau theme in the entry room. The inside was small but plenty of space for the crowd and a bar right inside. We were about 20 feet from the stage and could see the guys very well. The complete show went from 8:00 PM until after 12:30 AM. Jackie Greene opened with a fabulous set including New Potato Caboose and Mama Tried. Warren and the boys played two sets and two encores, full of long jams and covers including Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Eric Clapton to finish it off. I shook my bones the whole time! Don’t have much of a voice this AM (~);}
Deadheadland (and many others) expected this after the Nokia Shows were announced. This schedule is a Deadheads dream, Dark Star Orchestra, Furthur, Rhythm Devils, Donna Jean Godchaux, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Little Feat, Steve Kimock and Crazy Engine, Jackie Greene Band, Robert Randoloph and the Family Band, etc… sounds to me like friends,family, fans of music and love, the Grateful Dead and beyond!
Jackie Greene Band played at the Mystic Theater in Petaluma on Saturday April 17, 2010, and Grateful Dead/Furthur bass player Phil Lesh joined in for “Deal” and “New Speedway Boogie” in set 1.
In set 2 Phil joined on “Dont Let Me Down”, “Mexican Girl”, “Ball and Chain” and the double encore: “Scarlet Begonias” > “Sugaree”!
How great is that! Jackie had lots of great music of his own too, check him out: www.jackiegreene.com and be sure to download his free Grateful EP!
Here is a video of “Deal” – if more videos show up, Deadheadland will share them!
