1035x1600-Lockn_LineupPoster_Final-copyLINE -UP ANNOUNCEMENT:
Lockn Festival 2016 brings
Phish
Ween, My Morning Jacket,
Joe Russo’s Almost Dead & More to Arrington VA

This is the initial line-up announcement from Lockn’ Festival 2016.

Phish will headline 2 of the festivals 4 nights, with 2 full sets each night. The reunited Ween will also play twice, including one set leading into Phish – interlocking a “Roses are Free” perhaps? The festival is known for having two side by side stages, intending for there to be barely a beat between bands, and the opportunity is there for one band to seemlesly segue into the next. Ween > Phish seems like a potent transition.

Many fans have already expressed concern over the lack of Grateful Dead in the line-up, with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead being the closest thing- JRAD is a cooking kicking and screaming Dead tribute act that has become a huge  headliner nationwide – and while nearly all the members have at one time or another been involved with an official Dead band/spinoff, including leader Joe Russo being Furthur’s drummer for the duration of their reign, JRAD is still a Dead tribute act with no actual members of the Grateful Dead.  Also, the annual Keller Williams Grateful Gospel is always a treat, and in the past has included deadhead favorites Melvin Seals and John Kadlecik.

But Lockn‘ is 4 nights… only 2 nights of headlining by Phish have been announced. I don’t know who else will play, but still plenty of room for Phil Lesh and Friends or Dead and Company or Billy Kreutzmann and the Kids, Rhythm Devils, or even RatDog to be added to the lineup. Bob Weir did say he wanted to do some RatDog this year.  And  Mickey Hart will probably do something interesting with someone!

Many other DHL favorite’s at Lockn Festival 2016: Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Umphrey’s McGee, and Twiddle.

Let’s wait and see who else they add, in the months to come…  – www.locknfestival.com
