WOW!!! This was truly a show intended to be a legendary finale to the imminent demise of the “good ole Spectrum” and to celebrate an end to the 55 shows over so many years of touring that brought the Grateful Dead to the Philadelphia Spectrum. Just imagine the scope of the extent of so many cherished memories by the band and 100’s of thousands of fans over such a amazing history with this venue.
After an Enormous, RAGING, totally off-the-hook parking lot scene right out of the mists of time — where we all were transported back in time time to somewhere around 1985 +/- — Those among us in this sea of humanity and powerful energy who were lucky enough to have gotten in to see the show were treated to a historic performance of truly legendary power and intensity.
This shows first set was at least as intense as last night’s second set, which atrted off w/ One More Saturday Night >> and ended with a blistering Mason;s Children. Then the second set just ‘smoked’ the place. No, actually they ripped that venue apart in ways that I — (after seeing some 80 shows before and since the unfortunate passing of Jerry) — haven’t seen the band achieve since both Garcia and Mydland were still alive during the band’s late 80’s rennaisance.
I ended up going down with a whole bunch of friends and met so many new friends before and during the show. We all had one of the veery best times that any of us can remember!!!
