************************************************ UPDATE as of Dec. 30 2012: Furthur at the Sweetwater Mill Valley in January 2013! ***************************************************************
Original post from November 30th:
Every year the rumors fly, that New Years Eve will be the end of Furthur!
With Bob Weir’s new Sweetwater Music Hall in his home town of Mill Valley, and his TRI Studios in nearby San Rafael, plus everyone’s favorite hard rocking septuagenarian Phil Lesh playing frequent shows at his close to home restaurant venue Terrapin Crossroads, it seems even more likely that Furthur’s touring days are done… well small bits of information have come to light that seem to affirm that Furthur will continue to go on the road!
This morning, DHL friend Em Vibe found this on Frontage Tickets website…
We found this here: http://furthur.frontgatetickets.com/ <— Furthur likes to make their own announcements, but seems Frontgate beat them to it, though they may not have meant too. Sorry Furthur, but this is big news, and we are excited to see you all play and tour in 2013!!!
So far…

UPDATE: Jan. 15, 17, 18, 19 2013 – Sweetwater Music Hall Mill Valley, CA
Feb 21, 2013 at the Ogden Theatre in Denver
February 22, 23, 24, 2013 at the First Bank Center in Broomfield Colorado.
Is Furthur taking January off? Maybe some local “rehearsals” could happen in Phil or Bob’s neighborhood venues? That would be some sweet water! 😉 Might as well TRI!
Spring tour 2013? Summer tour 2013? Tomorrow never knows…
UPDATE: Furthur made it official. Details and Ticket information at Furthur.net

Bob Weir of Grateful Dead, Ratdog and Furthur, sat in withBay Area favorites Vinyl last night:
Bob sat in with Vinyl at the Sweetwater Music Hall on May 16th for a Rainforest Action Network Benefit. Bob was hanging in the bar, and rumours swirled, though everyone thought he left. At the end of their first set Korty said they would have special guests later, but by the time Bobby came out there were less than a hundred people there…

Vinyl is the rare sort of band that can meld funk, Latin jazz, dub and reggae without coming across as pale imitators of the style of the moment. Instead, Vinyl can alternately sound like the best live funk, Latin, reggae or dub band you’ve heard in ages–and occasionally, all at the same time. Instead of going for flash or gimmicks, Vinyl brings it with fierce musicianship and zesty abandon, proving you can have both substance and style. It’s an approach that has made the band favorites of the festival circuit, but the best place to experience them is on the dance floor of a hot, sweaty indoor venue.
