Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band heads east!
Formed from weekly shows at Phil Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads in San
Rafael, CA, the Terrapin Family Band has become the venue’s official
house band. Terrapin Crossroads’ constant free bar shows,
often featuring bandleader Phil, have created an opportunity for the
young musicians of Terrapin Crossroads’ crew to perform together and
with a diverse cast of visiting musicians. Through playing in this
setting, and with ongoing mentoring from Phil – Brian Lesh, Grahame
Lesh, Ross James, Scott Padden, and Alex Koford have grown into a richly
nuanced and fun band, throwing down originals, old country and rock
songs, murder ballads, Grateful Dead tunes, and more. For the
first time, the Terrapin Family Band will be taking their sound to the
East Coast, performing five nights in New York June 4-8 with Phil Lesh.
When not on the road with Phil, you can find the Terrapin Family Band at
the Terrapin Crossroads bar every Wednesday night at ~8:30pm and every
Sunday afternoon at 12:30pm (for brunch).

We all expected a TREAT when we read the Terrapin Crossroads calendar and saw “The Terrapin Family Band with Special Guest” – Phil Lesh played bass the whole show!
A big surprise was this massive instrumental near the end of the set, before going into “New New Speedway Boogie” (see video above)… turns out it was the theme from Game of Thrones, a show that everyone in the band watches.
