WEIR EVERYWHERE DEPT: Jim James and Bob Weir “Candyman” | Sweetwater  Music Hall Mill Valley California | Friday September 8 2017

At the base  of  Mt Tamalpais is Mill Valley California’s Sweetwater Music Hall. On the night before they share a bill at the top of Mt Tam, at the Sound Summit Music Festival, Jim James (of My Morning Jacket), and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band played the Sweetwater.

As often happens at the Sweetwater, Bob Weir dropped by and joined in for a few songs. Bob Weir will also climb up to the Mountain Theater, he’s headlining  Sound Summit, joining with Phil Lesh and Friends for the closing set of the day.

Enjoy this fan captured video from last night’s dhiw,  Jim James and Bob Weir sharing vocals and guitars on this acoustic version of the Grateful Dead‘s classic “Candyman“. This Garcia/Hunter tune was sung by Jerry Garcia back in the day.*

They also played the Daniel Lanois song “The Maker“, which was also a performance favorite with Jerry in the Jerry Garcia Band.

In their soundcheck they did “This Land Is Your Land”

Meanwhile, in a few hours will all be going up the mountain… Deadheadland is excited to be a part of Sound Summit as well, and we’ll be sharing news and setlists from the jam on Mt Tam!

Forecast calls for sunshine daydreaming and more musical cross pollination…

*with the huge influx of new younger fans, I feel the need to occasionally point out the obvious…
