Happycat’s notes: So….
The 1988 talk and show all a surprise! We rarely know ahead of time if a free Grate Room show is one or two sets;  Phil ended set one saying they will come back in just a bit with something different, and a little birdy told me to not stray too far during set break (i.e. don’t miss this).

The story telling  was full of juicy tidbits… See video.

The 1st set from Laguna Seca 7-31-88 was performed during the 2nd Set of the free Phil Lesh and Friends show on Tuesday June 7th 2016.  It is the first half of the 1988 selection  in Terrapins Grateful Dead 50th series of  Grateful Dead show “recreations” of historic shows, one from each of the years of the band’s thirty years together, 1965-1995.  (Of course they have done more than one show from 1977.)

While Phil joked about doing  the second set at an undetermined later date”, most regulars in the Terrapin Nation knew the 2nd set from 7-31-1988 will be performed as the 3rd set this Sunday June 12, at the Terrapin Backyard Summer Kickoff Ft. Phil Lesh and Friends.

Phil Lesh and Terrapin Crossroads began this series of 30 shows, (plus a few extra from 1977),
on January 2, 2015 as part of the Grateful Dead 50 Celebration. While GD50 may have peaked with the Fare Thee Well shows in Chicago during the July 4th weekend, 2015, Phil and his many friends have been continuing this series of 30 shows, plus a few extra from 1977, throughout 2015 and into 2016, which is really GD51.  If you are counting.
