Opening of Campgrounds Delayed, Thursday Performances Canceled

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE LOCKN’ ORGANIZERS

Opening of Campgrounds Delayed, Thursday Performances Canceled

Earlier this evening, a severe thunderstorm with high winds passed over Lockn’ and caused damage to the festival grounds, particularly the parking and campground area. The good news is that no one was injured and the entire team is focused on cleaning up and preparing for a great festival. The unfortunate news is that we will be forced to delay the opening of the campgrounds and cancel Thursday’s performances in order to give the team the time necessary to make sure the festival grounds are safe for both our guests and our artists.

Despite the inconvenience the storm has caused, we count ourselves lucky that everyone is safe and that we have three great days of music ahead of us.  We look forward to seeing you soon.

Stay tuned for new campgrounds opening times and other updates.

Fan video of last nights rain storm:

Reports of Vendors with damaged goods and campsites. According to Sam Cutler:

Our books were now in sodden cardboard boxes with many of them damaged. An inauspicious start to the festival had cruelly been foisted upon one and all. We returned to check the damage at the camp site and all the pop-up tents had been demolished. Lines of toilets lay sadly and incongruously on their sides with raw sewage seeping onto the ground. People were standing around in shock and squeezing the water out of bedding and clothes.

Mickey Hart who was slated to perform tonight with Eoto says “See you Friday”. On Friday he is scheduled to play with Steve Kimock.

We’ve heard reports of lots of Festivarians congragating at the Food Lyon in Lovingston VA, and lines of cars awaiting entrance, not all aware that the campgrounds are not opening as planned.

Deadheadland is happily dry in our Richmond VA field offices, and moving soon to our offices closer to the site. We will keep you posted with updates, though it is looking like tomorrow, Friday Septemeber 11 2015, is going to be the start of the Lockn Festival this year.

The biggest disappointment is missing Billy and the Kids today.
